On Wednesday and Thursday Mrs. Abstract and I had been attending the screening of upcoming movies at the Napa Valley Film Festival. We have seen remarkable movies:
Wednesday, we saw the documentary: “Alice Walker: Beauty in Truth” and the screeing of “August:Osage County” with Meryl Streep and Julia Roberts.
On Thursday, we saw the screening of the documentary:
“If You Built It” : a year in the life of one of America’s most innovative classrooms. The film follows Emily Pilloton and Matt Miller as they teach the fundamentals of design, architecture and construction to a class of high school juniors in rural North Carolina. Faced with rising unemployment rates, a struggling educational system and simmering racial tension the people of Bertie County North Carolina turn to Pilloton, Miller and their students for help. … what the class designs and builds for their hometown has a chance to transform their community for generations to come. “
and the screening of the movie: “Saving Mr. Banks” starring Tom Shanks, Emma Thompson and Colin Farrell.
and the documentary: “Monks of Vina”, story of monks in a trappist monastery that makes wine. Vina is the place north of Sacramento,CA where the monastery is located.
Mrs. Abstract and I are planning which venue to visit today.
